Kevin O’Farrell is a respected technology and security veteran who has spent nearly 30 years developing and providing some of the most advanced and innovative technologies.

He spent much of his career with Sun Microsystems where he led Java licensing operations across Europe and Asia, working with IBM, NOKIA, Sony, Philips, ARM, SAP, Siemens, Apple, MS, Oracle

His experience includes helping a major airline find ways to protect sensitive discussions and negotiations around the purchasing multi-million dollar aircraft and engines, to helping one of the world’s largest online car brokers to protect sensitive documents uploaded by its 4 million+ customers.

 

Neal O’Farrell is widely regarded as one of the world’s longest-serving security and privacy experts, 40 years and counting.

He began his career in the 1980s when he won the first contract to encrypt Ireland’s entire national ATM network and later went on to lead a project to develop a European rival for the STU 3, the NSA’s ultra secure secure telephone system.

He has advised more than half a dozen governments, has won numerous awards for his work, and as head of the nonprofit Identity Theft Council led America’s war on consumer identity theft.

He has spoken on security topics around the world including on the growth of surveillance capital at the headquarters of Facebook in Menlo Park CA. Neal was a member of the Federal Communications Commission’s Cybersecurity Roundtable and is currently a Fellow of the EP3 Foundation.
